On 28 February, Next Software announces
the release of Next Office Database (MySQL) Extension and
extending database (MySQL) support to Next Office users.
Next Office has a very powerful, though
not commonly known, capability: it has a very complete database
support infrastructure, allowing Next Office user, via different
interfaces such as ODBC, JDBC, etc., to connect into various
databases, among them the most prominent open source database
MySQL.
Next Office Database (MySQL) Extension is
a full function database engine, including MySQL database
server, MySQL ODBC driver, MySQL-Front, HR sample database
and Next Software All-in-One Installer. It is packaged and
distributed by Next Software according to the GNU GPL license,
suitable for use on Windows NT/2000/XP platforms.
When used with Next Office 8, you can turn
Next Office 8 as a GUI database front-end. You can enter
SQL 92 commands or use the GUI interface to define, enter,
update and query database information. You can even integrate
your Writer documents and Calc documents with MySQL database,
including the Auto-pliot which simplifies database report
generation.
